CLUB FOOT

The Ponseti method is the most effective treatment to correct Varo Equine Foot. There are scheduled steps in this technique that include manipulation, corrective casts, tenotomy, and a Dennis Brown splint immobilization phase. Equine Foot Varo affects 1 in 700 newborns each year, it is very important to complement the treatment with physiotherapy during the hours of rest in order to improve the function of the soft tissues, as well as prevent the retraction of the Achilles tendon.

 

We focus on restoring the function of the muscles that remain immobilized during the correction phase and achieving a planted foot with adequate, functional and stable joint mobility. It is very important to re-educate the biomechanics of gait after a long rest time, so a personalized evaluation treatment plan is carried out.

 

It is very satisfying for us to see the evolution of our patients and they experience their first steps. In a typical year, we treated 15 patients with the Ponseti method.
